Back again. Sunday. Closing out the week with a subject that fascinates me and I believe I am still just scratching the surface of it. The infamous question: “Do you love what you do?”

Passion in labor has been a thing since the early days of mass production, industries, and factories where people do repetitive, robot-like tasks, day in and day out. Pattern behavior causes more harm than good since it programs our minds to be monotonous, and predictable. And the worst part, it stimulates conformism and confortability. Just out of the top of my mind, this sounds dangerous. Because it feels like we are in some form, being programmed against our will, to become modern slaves. Whether you like what you do or not, in modern corporations, this tends to happen.

Is the image above a bit disturbing after reading the text prior to it? Perhaps. Now, about work and passion. Let’s start with this modern slavery thing first so that we can dive deeper afterward on the passion vessel.

Modern slavery is this pattern we create in life in which we believe we are free and yet, everything we do is commanded by someone else beyond ourselves or to fulfill needs that society, or worst, our family, made us believe we needed, when in reality maybe we did not.
